A flow of air, of variable speed, is generated over different profiles placed on a support containing a stress gauge. The aerodynamic force applied to each profile is then measured in mN.
This force F varies according to the speed v of the air flow and the shape of the studied profile. Alternatively, a display present on the front side of the wind tunnel gives the values of F and v.
Using the 2 analogue outputs, it is possible to connect the Wind tunnel to a datalogging interface and display the graph F=f(v2).
For each profile, a slope is thus determined and, using the relationship F=1/2 x d x S x Cx x v2, the aerodynamic coefficient Cx of each profile is deduced.
